Contact Sheet as Photo Booth

Updating my printed portfolio today.

Coming across some super fun past shoots.

This was a scan of the contact sheet that I'm now loving as an image itself!

Advertising

I love taking classes and try to do it once a year. It keeps me fresh, inspired, and I meet loads of great people. I'm a huge fan of the Santa Fe Workshops (have been out there 3 times), the Maine Workshops, and the Rocky Mountain School of Photography where i spent a summer in 2003.

In NYC, i'm partial to ICP (the International Center of Photography). And i'm taking an advertising photography class there now with Steve Diamond, creative director at Rapp. Its super fun. We get an assignment each week with a tagline...and we are to come up with an image to go with it.

We are on week 3...thought i'd share my finished work from week 1 and 2.

Week 1:
Client: The Cigar Bar at Arthur's
Tagline: Telling intolerant little people to go to hell doesnt necessarily require words.

Week 2:
Client: Prada
Tagline: The price may give your husband a heart attack. Don't worry. It also comes in black.

Week 3:
Client: Timbaland
Tagline: Your mouse does not count as wildlife. (computer mouse that is...)
Stay tuned to see the image for next week! Have a think about what you would do for it also. Feel free to share!

Artists in Hospitals

Its always amazing to come across projects that make the world a better place...and its seems even more so now in this 2009 environment...when the work that is relevant, and unique and resourceful...is the work that matters.

Cue my dear friend and oh so insightful artist, Ian Cion
He has started a new non-profit called Artists in Hospitals...and doing precisely that. He's a brilliant public artist that creates projects with the children's artwork all over Austin, TX to make you smile. No doubt this work will spread like pollen on a windy day...

Check out the designs he helped orchestrate on the Austin City Buses...maybe being run off the road by NYC buses would be more endurable if the buses looked like this...well....

One Polaroid A Day

Here's where my 2 blogs get to mix and mingle!
Polaroids + Kids!

I get endless joy out of watching the look on their faces as the Polaroid comes to life.
I mean we as adults still enjoy watching the Polaroid image materialize, I can only imagine what its like if you are 3 years old!

Owen (top) is the biggest love bug i know. The first time I met him, he gave rounds of goodnight kisses to his parents and then to me... but with this sincerity and determination like i'd never seen. And it went on for rounds and rounds!  His parents and I were in utter tears with laughter.

Miller and Elizabeth (bottom) came over with their OWN digital cameras, pink and blue plastic. They may have been for 3 year olds, but i took my turn! I've photographed these kids many times now, and Miller has this acute awareness of the camera. He always knows when its on him, he knows where to look and when. Its incredible. And Elizabeth is just plain smart. She might not be so keen on looking into the camera, but I have to admit, I wouldnt be surprised if she already understands apertures and F-stops!

And if you havent checked out my Polaroid blog, (shooting for 5+ years now!), click here
